RW x Hibi

Introducing our first Season 7 collaboration, @hibi.mx x RW, design and render a custom mechanical keyboard cap. This week’s prompt is competition-style, where the winning design will be manufactured and produced as a limited edition HIBI x RW keycap. 

General rules for the design are:

Maximum depth of cuts is 3 times the diameter of the drill diameter.
Minimum extruded line thickness size is 0.30mm.
Minimum cut distance/gaps between lines is 0.30mm.
Minimum wall thickness of the stem interface area is 1mm.

The machining is done by a 5-axis mill so there are almost endless form possibilities. The challenge will run for 3 weeks, ending May 15, so there is plenty of time to develop your idea. Submit using the portal through our website as well as Instagram using #rwxhibi (we’ve had some issues with IG hashtags lately, so def use our website first).

Prizes

The winning criteria will depend on both machinability and creativity/beauty, so it’s a true Industrial Design topic. The winning submissions will be judged by Kate, the founder and designer at HIBI, and Ryan & Tyler from RW. Keep it casual and easy, and participate at your own leisure. 

The winner and 2 runners-up will receive:

1st: Hibiki (aluminum) keyboard* + HIBI x RW Keycap
2nd: June (silicone) keyboard* + HIBI x RW Keycap
3rd: HIBI x RW Keycap

*switches and keycaps not included

Design Submission

Submit your design for manufacture through the link below. By submitting, you agree to relinquish your ownership rights over the design so we can manufacture, produce, and distribute the final design freely. Do not submit your design if you are not okay with this.

Unfortunately, we can only consider winning designs from the United States, Canada, Mexico, England, Netherlands, and Australia.
